The inaugural version of App Planet turned out to be a great success. Though nobody doubted it would. An entire exhibition hall was reserved for applications developers, content providers, operators and device manufacturers, their meeting conferences and their products. All that was accompanied with cold drinks, small talks, severe discussions and awards giving out.

The new “Best of Show” Mobile Application Award was given to Cisco’s WebEx Meeting Center for the iPhone.  It seems that the company has joined ranks of those who surges iPhone application development process. The new iPhone application allows you to join any WebEx online conference from your mobile screen and keep in touch, joining audio, using shared content, chat and flawlessly transfer the online meeting to the computer.

Everything seems to be just great but many users who have already tried the new app failed to work properly with it as corporate Webex servers need to be upgraded to support it. Though Webex tech support promised to eliminate the problem by the beginning of March.

Apple’s iPhone 3GS: What Is Its Price Conditioned By?

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

The general look of the new iPhone 3G S is quite similar to the iPhone released last summer. But there have been some important changes inside the new iPhone. The 3GS comes in 16- and 32-gigabyte varieties; the prior model is the one with 16GB chip.

The reason of cost increase lies in NAND flash memory price going up. It’s used to store music, video, and apps on the iPhone.

Apple is one of the world’s biggest consumers of NAND flash memory, and has been cooperating since 2005 with chipmakers like Samsung and Hynix, among others, though in the unit used for the teardown the flash supplier was Toshiba.

Some components of the new iPhone are cheaper alongside with the fact that they’ve been improved significantly. That can be attributed to multitouch display which was improved be adding an oleophobic coating which doesn’t attract fingerprints and cleans more easily.

Some components are missing from the iPhone 3GS completely. E.g. broadcom controller chip connected to the display.

The idea is that this game combines the classic time-proven snake game with beautiful graphics and challenging gameplay. The game objective is almost the same. You try to eat fruits by controlling the snake’s route.

Unlike other Snake iPhone applications, the background here is pleasant to look at, sounds are well perceived. You can control the volume of sounds, and switch them on/off. (more…)
