HTC Releases the First Tablet

HTC Corporation, the Taiwan-based manufacturer of smartphones, has decided to launch a tablet, too. HTC Flyer is the newly released gadget that is, honestly speaking, a little bit underdeveloped to be competitive.

Apart from the aluminum case the device has very few features it can boast. It has a single-core (only) processor with a 1.5 GHz clock frequency, which is a disadvantage if you look at the similar tablets in the market. Take, for instance, LG Tab or Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, — they both override the market newbie with their processor capacities.

1 Gb of RAM and 32 Gb of hard disk storage are fading if you consider that the tablet is powered with an Android 2.4 (Honeycomb) operating system, while it could have actually featured Android 3.0 (Gingerbread), if it was intended to impress the masses, or, rather, not disappoint them at least.

Other than the mentioned above, the tablet is armed with two cameras: a 5-megapixel camera on the back panel and a 1.3-megapixel one in the front, which is nothing new in the market. The battery is great though: 4000 mAh make you feel rather comfortable and secure browsing through all the tablet’s functions.

Android developers have also enabled the Flyer users to enjoy the Onlive service and even take advantage of video streaming. The new HTC tablet will be released in the next quarter, but there most probably has to be a very smart pricing move to push the sales.
