For the past months the Internet has been buzzing about the release of a new version of the Apple OS – this time 4.0. Almost everyone from numerous “trusty Apple connects” to dubious “unconfirmed reports” predicted the long awaited release every month.

Opera has created its new browser for iPhone, Opera-Mini, which awaits its approval in the sacred halls of the Apple App Store. The offered application supports multiple tabs options and «speed dial» access to frequently-visited sites which seems to be a great advantage in comparison to the existing Apple browser. Besides, it reduces wireless network congestion by compressing pages at Opera-maintained servers before they're passed on to the user.

The inaugural version of App Planet turned out to be a great success. Though nobody doubted it would. An entire exhibition hall was reserved for applications developers, content providers, operators and device manufacturers, their meeting conferences and their products. All that was accompanied with cold drinks, small talks, severe discussions and awards giving out.

The mobile industry survives the outburst of innovations and creativity that’s why the Mobile World Congress 2010 that is to take place next week tends to be one of the greatest events of the coming year. Traditionally it is considered the best way to make some striking statements or slip out promissing comments that will be discussed in the Net for weeks if not for months. It is rumoured that the biggest news to come out of the annual Congress might not even be on the hardware front, but rather software (quite unlike the previous years).

The rumors about introduction by Apple the first Internet tablet iSlate by the end of the month were confirmed. On the 18th of January Apple sent invitations to the presentation to be held on January, 27 at 10 am local time in the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater (San Francisco).

British mobile operator Vodafone will become the third to start retail sales of the Apple iPhone.
«Vodafone and Apple have confirmed that they had reached agreement to start selling the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS in the United Kingdom and Ireland at the beginning of 2010,» — official press release says.
